Using the 510 locator to trace the cable path before pinpointing ensures the fault locating crew does not waste time looking for the fault in the wrong area. The crew will save time and reduce the thump stress to the cable. The 510 is a compact system that is easy to store in the fault locating truck. The 510 includes traditional peak and null operation modes for quick and accurate cable tracing. It can be directly connected to the deenergized cable or its signal can be inductively coupled onto the cable.
